What We Do

Our mission is to empower businesses to make data-driven decisions faster and more effortlessly than ever before. Therefore, we are building an advanced analytics platform using machine learning to reason why key performance indicators change.

Join our venture as the VP of Engineering and impact how people and businesses work. Get the chance to shape a young technology startup from its earliest days on through your efforts, experience, and industry expertise.

Our company is built at Merantix, a Venture Studio focussing on artificial intelligence. This means that we are part of an ecosystem of top-tier engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs from leading universities who will help us along the way.

Your Role

As the VP of Engineering, you lead the software engineering team of our venture. Your tasks are diverse and non-repetitive and every day you will combine a variety of skills. Your main responsibilities include the following:

  • In charge of software engineering, software operations, and product quality;
  • Responsible for developing and implementing a scalable software architecture that is capable of processing large amounts of complex data in no time as well as an astonishing user interface and experience;
  • Lead the decisions around how and with what technologies the software architecture is built up;
  • We expect that you do hands-on coding in the early stages of the venture;
  • Work closely together with our Chief Science Officer;
  • Grow, scale, and lead a team of highly qualified software engineers;
  • Maintain high standards and reward excellence;
  • Drive the technical culture so every team member obsesses about scale, performance, security, and ease of use;
  • As part of the leadership team, you shape the strategic direction and the product vision from the earliest days on.

Your Qualifications

We define ourselves by a culture of collaboration and ownership. We’re looking for a driven, capable, and thoughtful person to add to our vision. The main qualifications we expect you to have are the following:

  • Pursued an MSc or Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering, machine learning or similar fields;
  • Knowledge in a broad set of technologies is essential for this role. Amongst others, we work with Rust, Java, Python, Typescript, PyTorch, Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Docker;
  • Recent hands-on coding experience using one of the before-mentioned technologies is essential;
  • It is plus if you have a proven track record in a technical leadership role;
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to liaise effectively with both business and technical teams;
  • Pragmatic mindset, make quick decisions, and clearly prioritize on what moves the needle;
  • Love what you do (and own it).

What We Offer

Our hierarchy is flat and communication direct, which means that we operate and learn fast, as a team. In addition to a competitive salary and equity package, you can expect the following:

  • Flexible working hours as we believe in ownership and trust;
  • Learning & Development Program for all our team members;
  • Regular team events and intensive exchange with all Merantix companies;
  • Free drinks, snacks, and breakfast.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity. We consider all applications equally regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, or gender identity. We strongly encourage individuals from groups traditionally underrepresented in tech to apply, and we can help with immigration.
