Cambrium’s mission is to trigger the next wave of material innovation by harnessing nature's building blocks. We are building a platform to design and develop novel protein materials with enhanced chemical and physical properties. Cambrium is incubated at Merantix, an AI Venture Studio which conceptualizes, builds and scales machine learning companies. We are looking for a Strain Engineer who will be responsible for engineering and optimising protein overexpression strains in an automated laboratory. You will work with a small interdisciplinary team with complementing scientific backgrounds to push the boundaries of materials science. Technicians will be available to help with the running of the lab, but expertise in genetic engineering of yeast host systems, CRISPR/CAS9 (and troubleshooting), and an understanding of protein overexpression are a must. You will interface with biochemists, bioinformaticians, and machine learning experts to develop an integrated software-experimental pipeline for material learning. You will be one of the early employees, having an outsized impact, shaping the company through your efforts, scientific experience and industry expertise.
